Let us go back to the first day I arrived at NYFW. I had just flown into La Guardia, my friend and I caught our cab into the city, changed immediately, and headed into the exhilarating life of fashion week.
First up? The Hervé Léger show. I met up with the Editor-in-Chief of LIVID Magazine. We caught up on previous collections while we waited for the show to start. The show was filled with stunning embellished detailing on their staple bandage dress, resembling armors of velvet and gold.
I told myself I would take it easy this season, but after missing so many incredible shows the first three days, I couldn’t resist. Guilt crept in and I went on a Runway Show rampage.
The next few days were filled with, wardrobe changes, meetings, more shows, coffee, and the occasional glass of Maccalan’s on the rocks to keep me warm.
I finally had the chance to take pictures of one of my favorite outfits of the week, featuring the Pantone color of the year, Marsala. This outfit was effortless and elegant, just the way my style is. The outfit includes opaque stockings, a cotton a-line dress, accentuating the waist, and a rocking leather coat that received compliments left and right.
The show of the day? The Michael Costello show, which was full of laced body-con gowns and risky cuts while remaining tasteful and elegant. What an incredible young and self-taught designer. Costello has emerged into a household name in a short period of time since his appearance on Lifetime’s Project Runway.
With fashion week comes the responsibility of dressing well, but I find that the outfit that will always get the most compliments is the one you feel most comfortable in.
